The Crucifixion (Gary Lessord)
When pity’s empty promises ring heavy in your ears, When apathy recoils at the long remaining years, When frail despair and memory make their alliance fast And bind your peace and present moment captives of the past; When pain that holds the heart in thrall would seem your only friend, When bleeding lips against the silent scream's release defend, When words of comfort fall like ash, when all your tears run dry, When all that hope has left you is to wish the end was nigh; Look up and see, the shadow over you is cruciform, And pinned amidst the fury of the mountain-rending storm He hangs and bleeds in thorny garb, in agony and thirst; Remember, all you suffer now, He suffered for you first.
Absolutely, beautiful, needed this today.
